Snippet Sentry

Make a compliance product look like the category leader — the one they were raising money to become.

Snippet Sentry had a genuinely modern compliance product and a website that made it look dated and untrustworthy. Heading into a Series B in a field of look-alike competitors, the marketing site had to do what the product couldn’t show on its own: read instantly as the market leader. I led the brand and site rebuild end to end — and made motion do the differentiating.

01The problem

A boring problem. A genuinely scary one.

Some products are hard to sell because the problem sounds boring — and this was one of them, right up until you’re the bank. Employees talk to clients on iMessage, WhatsApp, SMS: the tools people actually use. In regulated industries every one of those messages has to be captured, monitored, and archived, or the fines get enormous. Snippet Sentry captures and archives all of it, with almost no IT lift and no change to how anyone texts. Smart product, expensive problem.

A tool trusted with a company’s most sensitive communications has to look like it can be trusted with them.
02The stakes

The site was about to stop being a brochure.

None of that intelligence came through on the old site. It was dated and flat, and it did the one thing a compliance vendor can’t afford: it looked less trustworthy and less current than the problem it was solving. And the timing raised the stakes. The company was heading into a Series B — the moment a marketing site stops being a brochure and becomes a signal.

Three audiences would read momentum and market position off the first thing they saw:

Investors

Reading market position off the first screen.

Deciding whether this looks like a company on the way up.

Enterprise buyers

Trusting a vendor with their most sensitive comms.

Judging credibility partly by how the site made them feel.

Prospective hires

Deciding whether to bet a career on it.

The site as the first read on whether this is a company on the rise.

03The hypothesis

Visual differentiation as a wedge, not decoration.

This was the strategic bet the whole project rested on. In a market where nearly every competitor’s site looked the same kind of dated, visual differentiation wasn’t decoration — it was a competitive wedge. If Snippet Sentry showed up looking measurably more modern and more considered than everyone else, the design itself would communicate market leadership before a single feature bullet was read.

In a fundraising and enterprise-sales context, that first impression does real work.
04The wedge

A whole category that had stopped trying.

I started by studying the competitive set to find the gap, and the pattern was consistent: competent products behind unremarkable, often outdated websites. That confirmed the wedge. The bar wasn’t “be beautiful in the abstract” — it was “look distinctly more current and more confident than the exact companies a buyer is comparing us to.”

The field

Competent, dated, interchangeable.

Good products behind sites a buyer can’t tell apart.

Snippet Sentry, redrawn

Distinctly more current and confident.

Modern enough that the design reads as leadership before the copy is.

Grounded, not aesthetic-for-its-own-sake → feedback from existing clients and internal stakeholders told me where the current site actually failed people, so the redesign fixed real comprehension pain.

05The design

Modern minimalism, doing strategic work.

The visual direction was modern minimalism: a disciplined, harmonious color system and bold, readable typography, with the information architecture rebuilt so a visitor could travel along one clean path. Clean structure was doing strategic work — in a compliance purchase, clarity is credibility.

06Motion

Motion that explains, not decorates.

The part I’m proudest of is the motion. Rather than bolt animation on for polish, I used it to carry the product’s core ideas — each animation built in After Effects and shipped as a lightweight Lottiefile in Webflow. That’s the rule that governed all of it: motion earns its place only when it explains something.

After Effects → Lottie

Rich custom motion, delivered as small, performant vector animations.

An idea per animation

Each one carries a real point about the product, not a flourish.

Premium by feel

Motion signaled a market leader before a single feature was read.

07The animations

Each one carrying a real idea.

Here are the animations from the shipped site, each doing a job. They’re not decoration — each one takes an abstract part of the product and makes you watch it happen.

01

The capture

Messages from every app stream through secure channels into one locked archive — the constant, secure flow of data made visible. It never stops watching, and nothing leaks.

02

Full coverage

A phone ringed by every channel Snippet Sentry captures — SMS, iMessage, WhatsApp and more, across iOS and Android — so coverage doesn't have a gap depending on what phone your people carry.

03

Why it wins

The platform's key benefits broken into digestible animated segments, so a scanning visitor absorbs the value in pieces instead of a wall of copy.

The real After Effects → Lottie animations from the shipped site, playing live — embedded straight from the Webflow export, not re-drawn.

08Craft vs speed

Impressive and fast had to coexist.

The recurring fight was craft versus performance. Animation-heavy sites are easy to make and easy to ruin — the same motion that makes a page feel premium can make it stutter and load slowly, which on a compliance site reads as the opposite of trustworthy. The discipline was in the engineering of the motion, not just its design.

The need

Rich enough to read as serious and well-funded.

The premium, ahead-of-the-pack feel a Series B site needs.

The risk

A page that stutters reads as untrustworthy.

On a compliance site, slow and janky is the opposite of the promise.

The real work → lightweight, optimized Lottie / CSS / SVG, built in close partnership with developers, so the site felt rich without buckling under its own polish.

09The build

Figma to a pixel-precise Webflow build.

I took the visual system from Figma into a pixel-precise Webflow build, using my own working knowledge of CSS and HTML to get the no-code implementation to match the comps exactly — not “close enough for Webflow.” The motion I designed in After Effects and exported as Lottie; the more interactive pieces I built with the dev team in GSAP and SVG so they ran natively and crisply rather than as heavy video. And the whole thing was fully responsive across desktop, tablet, and mobile.

The finished Series B homepage, rebuilt faithfully from the Webflow build — real palette, real copy, and all three After Effects → Lottie animations embedded and playing.

Build quality

A pixel-perfect Figma → Webflowimplementation: the finished site matched the comps exactly, animations included — no fidelity lost between design and live. (This case-study recreation embeds those same exported Lottie files directly.)

Results

Launched exactly when leadership had to show.

The redesigned site launched ahead of the Series B raise — the moment the site had to project market leadership — and was well received by internal stakeholders and clients alike: a clear lift in how modern and credible the brand felt. The design itself read as “serious, well-funded, ahead of the pack.” The wedge, realized.

Series B

Positioned the company as market leader heading into the round.

+23%

Engagement lift attributed to the custom animations.

Pixel-perfect

Figma comps shipped to Webflow with no loss of fidelity.

The Series-B positioning and the ~23% engagement lift are as reported for the engagement — I present them as stated outcomes, not independently measured here.

11Learnings

Two things that stuck with me.

Design is the differentiator

…when a whole category stops trying.

In a field of look-alike, dated sites, showing up genuinely modern wasn’t vanity — it was positioning. The craft said “leader” before the copy did.

Motion earns its place

…only when it explains something.

Each animation worked because it carried a real idea. And keeping it fast in no-code taught me the design and the engineering of an effect are the same job.

What I carry forward

When a whole category stops trying, design becomes the differentiator.

You can’t screenshot “every message, captured.” So the marketing site had to perform the value — motion carrying the promise, craft carrying the credibility — and motion is worth it only when every animation is explaining something real. Brand, web, and motion for Snippet Sentry, end to end, ahead of the company’s Series B.
